I wanted to write about something else—I’ve got cool pictures of our “spring/fall” and want to discuss odd weather things with you—but my third book, SECOND ACT, is live everywhere today! So I gotta go with this topic. I mean I just gotta. 😀

I’ve put on my big girl panties (love that phrase, Jerrie Alexander) and am having a real Facebook Release Day Party this afternoon 3-5 pm CDT with lovely guests, Jerrie Alexander and Tiffinie Helmer and Angi Morgan.

So pleased they could take time to celebrate with me. Thanks, ladies. Hope lots of you stop by for a chance to win some of the great prizes. And to top it off, yesterday the UPS man to delivered the PRINT BOOKS! So both e and print books are available at the same time. WhooHoo!  Don’t you love the whole cover?!! Charlie Volnek did a great job.

As those of you who follow this blog realize, I’ve published this book myself. Well, MRW Press LLC has. LOL That’s to keep my lawyer husband happy without whom none of this would’ve happened. Thanks so much, sweetie. Hard to believe we’ve done this!

About five or six years ago, one of the Ss-I-L suggested I go into self-pubbing because he said everything was really moving to e-publishing. He might’ve been right, but I was so far from having a publishable book at that point that I’m glad I didn’t follow his advice. I had tons more to learn. I didn’t even know how much more I had to learn. You’ve heard about being so clueless, you don’t know what it is you don’t know? Well, that was me five or six years ago.

In the interim, I have learned a great deal about the writing business. Not everything by any means. In the coming years, I look forward to improving my writing, to handling all the social media stuff in a more efficient manner, to not being so deer-in-the-headlights about everything connected to technology. LOL (Some of y’all will have seen my recent FB post that I’d turned my computer screen on it’s side!   FullSizeRender(6)  Thanks to Matthew Peters for telling me how face it up right side. Control, Alt and the arrow going the direction you want the screen to move!) Thanks to Tim and Gwen at Top–e-Publishing Services for all the formatting “stuff.” I’m sure there were many times they rolled their eyes at my questions and comments. (They never let on.) I’m in awe of writers who do this themselves!

Lastly, I’m getting antsy to write the third book in the series. (The marketing and business end is important, but it’s really all about writing that next book and “stuff” is swirling around in my head. It’s like there’s another person living up there! TMI? Sorry. LOL ) The second is written but needs rewrites and editing, but I don’t want to complete it until I have the third one mostly written. Otherwise, I run the risk of putting something in the second book that I cannot make work in the third. Yikes!

Please share my blog with your friends on FB and Twitter. Make sure you’re subscribed so you get direct emails.  If you read SECOND ACT and like it, please write a review. These are so important. Before becoming a writer, I never wrote reviews. I didn’t understand their significance. Of course, before I became a writer, I bought most of my books at Half-Price Books and didn’t even have plans for ever getting an e-reader! LOL Times, they do change.

Writing a review is not like writing the book reports we had to do in school. A couple of lines about what the book is about and why you like it, gets the job done. :-)

Local Book Signing is Sunday, March 29, 3-5 pm at Salon 70

5730 Locke Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76107

The lovely Judi Perrotti has opened her salon for our party. I’ll have 50 books available to sell. Cake, wine, cheese & fruit, and shrimp. (Our family always has shrimp at our celebrations!) Hope to see many of you there, whether you buy or not. :)

How about you? How do you prefer to read? Print or e-reader? What kind of e-reader do you use? How many authors do you know? Have you ever written to an author?

Next week we’ll talk about odd weather experiences and maybe Charley’s school. Love to hear from you.

Weight Update: 24 pounds down as I write this. Was hoping to be able to say 25 today, but I’ve struggled this week. No excuses. Gotta do better! But I’m eating at least a couple of bites of the cake we’re having at the book signing on Sunday! So it may take me a while to come down off the cake and wine high!
